The kids always have a blast carving pumpkins. Spencer and Avi are old enough to do their own pumpkins start to finish which is always a plus. I don't mind gutting a pumpkin or two, but I sure don't mind them being able to do it themselves either! It is also fun to see what they come up with on their own.
I told him to do the biggest smile EVER and this is what he came up with!
The weekend of Halloween we got dressed up and went to the Haunted Fort at Fort Bridger. The Fort is decorated for Halloween and you go through in small groups. There are people dressed in period clothing that do small skits and the usual jumping out and scaring. The kids also get to trick or treat throughout the Fort. At the end, there is a fire to warm up at where they tell scary stories and serve hot chocolate and cider. Then a hay ride returns you to the parking lot where the cars are.
We were one of the first people in line this year. We wanted to get there when there was still a little light out, both for warmth (for all of us, but especially the baby) and to help Mason in the fear department.
This year, Spencer was a vampire, Avilee was an eskimo, and Mason was a t-rex!
This is our family right before we started the haunted tour.
The reason I told what happened inside the Fort rather than showed...I took pictures throughout the night and towards the end Matt says, "You know the lens cap is on right?" Whoops! So, here is what I came home to on the camera...
We also had a fun time on Halloween. Our ward had a yummy soup dinner and trunk or treat. Afterwards Sawyer and I stayed home and handed out candy and the rest of the kids went trick or treating with Daddy and Grandpa. It was a great night...and no snow!
